Introduction to Departments

Respiratory diseases encompass a wide range of areas, including infections, tumors, airway diseases, allergic lung diseases, interstitial lung diseases, and pleural and mediastinal diseases.

Respiratory infections such as pneumonia are rapidly diagnosed using appropriate testing methods, and treatment is conducted according to established guidelines. Additionally, we are involved in clinical trials for new antibiotics.

Lung tumors, including lung cancer, have been increasing annually. In our department, we provide care based on the latest evidence, using the most up-to-date diagnostic and treatment methods.

For conditions like asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), we focus on inhalation therapies, and we are also considering the introduction of new treatments such as biological agents. We place emphasis on preventing exacerbations and promoting self-management.

Diffuse lung diseases require detailed medical histories and various tests to identify the cause. For diseases such as hypersensitivity pneumonitis and collagen disease-related lung diseases, we provide the best medical care through appropriate testing.

Our department is a recognized facility by the Japanese Society of Internal Medicine, the Japanese Respiratory Society, the Japanese Society of Respiratory Endoscopy, the Japanese Society of Infectious Diseases, the Japanese Society of Clinical Oncology, and the Japanese Society of Allergy. Many specialists and instructors who are members of these societies are constantly present. During conferences, we share the latest information, discuss accurate understanding of disease conditions, diagnosis, and treatment guidelines.
